Do you agree with the fact that art is a very unique choice and certain pieces of art can make you feel a certain way? I certainly think so. Here are some forms of art for your home to consider.
Impressionism
In the 16th century, the founding of the Florence Academy of the Arts of Drawing marked a shift from medieval craft guilds to intellectual and aesthetic aspects of art. This differentiate fine arts like painting and sculpture from decorative applied art. Some young artists began to experiment with new techniques giving birth to: Impressionism, cubism, and surrealism. I personally love Impressionism a way of art in which painters captured their “impression” of something rather than what they saw in real life. The works of art from Monet and Vangoh are among my favorite they can suit homes that can go from classic to modern. Impressionism it is one of the most popular art currents because the pieces are colorful and attractive and they still feel contemporary.
Photography
Having scenic photography in your home can produce a calming effect, wild life, landscapes, striking colors, something like the ocean or a beautiful sun set. You can create a dynamic urban environment if you hang a picture of the city or a black and white street, its all up to you and your life style. In my case I love to have ocean pictures at home, it creates a refreshing feeling and makes me feel like I’m away on a tropical paradise.
Art Noveau
It was inspired by the natural world, uses organic, sculptural shapes and curved lines, floral and minimal motifs and intricate decorative use of glass and metal. Gustav Klimt is one of the best known artists of this current with painting such as “The Kiss” and “Hope”. This type of painting can give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside it’s more in the emotional side than just esthetic.
Luminsm
Based on carefully detailed paintings with romantic almost glowing lighting. Here is a sample a painting by Albert Bierstadt best known for his sweeping landscapes of the American west. Famous painter of the 19th Century.
Abstract
Is an art that does not attempt to represent reality, but instead uses shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to achieve it’s effect. It can be based on something real or not. The word abstract means to separate or withdraw something from something else. This type of of art is ideal for Modern and minimalist homes.

- Define Your Aesthetic: Determine the ambiance you wish to create. Is it calming or energetic?
- Artwork Dimensions: Make sure your piece fits the scale of your wall. A bold centerpiece can ground the design, while several smaller works can evoke a gallery vibe.
- Harmonious Colors: Opt for pieces that resonate with your existing color scheme. Art with hues reflecting your decor can beautifully unify your room.
- Optimal Placement: Think about where you will hang the artwork—eye level is generally optimal for appreciation.
- Personal Connection: Select items that stir emotions or nostalgia. Remember, art should resonate with you personally!
Enjoy the artistic journey as you curate your perfect space, and take the time to find pieces that genuinely speak to you!

Size Matters
